ONE NIGHT IN RIO!
Since we cant take you to Brazil, we will be bringing Brazil to YOU!
The Brazilian Carnival is one of the best-known celebrations today, and many cities and regions worldwide celebrate with large, popular events. It’s time to celebrate Charlotte’s Brazilian community. A Night in Rio will feature live samba and traditional dancing by Movimentos de Samba. Carolina Latin Dance Company will perform an Afro-Brazilian tribal dance featuring children dancers. Free samba lessons will get the crowd moving. Demonstrations of capoeira, an Afro- Brazilian art form that combines martial arts, music and dance, will be demonstrated by Charlotte Capoeira Grupo. The globally-known hits of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao Gilberto, and Caetano Veloso will be interpreted by musician Reinaldo Brahm, while SoulBrazil will move the crowd with live samba music. The night will close with an exciting live batucada with Drum to Free Your Soul.
The Latin American Coalition invites you to journey through Brazil in an evening featuring traditional dancing; live musical performances of Samba, Bossa Nova, and Brazilian Beats; authentic foods; and arts and crafts.
